Nationally, in the world of design, there is currently a push towards calm and serene spaces…

…due to the fact that everyone’s lives are extremely busy between work, home, schedules and our every present phones. So of course, whites and grays are still huge, as is mixing grays into the world of beiges — which eases the transition of browns to grays throughout a home. There is also an interest in texture on texture, such as pairing multiple wood tones like rift cut oak and walnut. The warmth of wood is more relevant now than ever, and the casual happenstance of materials is a soft look people are enjoying.

Another trend you’ll start to see more of is color. After its absence and a world of gray and white, people are realizing color makes you feel happy in your home. Bouncing in a color-pop like a red can add the extra soul that a space needs. The simple addition of color can be seen in all styles — bright happy colors like greens, cobalt blues and shades of red are showing up again.

Also, tiles with patterns are making a comeback. Whole kitchen floors, covered in patterned tiles, are creeping back in and people are excited to have some personality on their floors. Black and whites, of course, but even patterns with soft washed colors are feeling like home again.
